Power Of Attorney

Appointing A Power Of Attorney In Tulsa, Oklahoma

What Is A Power Of Attorney?

A power of attorney is a legal document that authorizes someone to act for you. You name someone, known as an agent or attorney-in-fact, who steps into your shoes, legally speaking.

You can authorize someone to sign checks, deposit or withdraw funds, make investment decisions, make healthcare decisions, or anything else you normally do for yourself. A power of attorney can be broad or limited and can be effective immediately or only upon your disability or incapacity. The power ends at death.

A power of attorney is an important estate planning tool. If incapacity or disability should strike, your affairs can be handled by someone of your choosing without court involvement. I have prepared hundreds of powers of attorney during my more than 30 years of practicing, and I welcome the opportunity to discuss your situation and more fully explain how a power of attorney should be part of your estate plans.
